For this assignment, you will use the results from your Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and Strong Interest Inventory (SII) assessments to determine some particular occupations and majors to research.

MBTI Report

Read the list of occupations, circle the ones that you would like to explore, and list them below.
Registered nurse, nurses aide, architect, mechanical engineer, chemical engineer, pilot, air traffic controller, police officer and correctional officer.

4. How do you believe the occupations you have chosen to explore fit with your personality preferences? Explain how these occupations allow you to work in your preferred work environment.
These actually fall right into my interests. It just reconfirmed that the choices that I am looking at are the right ones.

SII Report

I am midrange. I believe that it means that I enjoy working with people but I also enjoy data.


B. Look at your “Learning Environment” rating. How do the educational requirements of the occupations you listed fit with your interest to pursue additional training?
I need it to go as quick as possible and I learn best hands on. It helps me to know ehat direction to go with my training.


C. Look at your “Leadership Style” rating. How do these occupations fit your personal style?
I scored mid on this. I do express my feelings but I would rather not be the boss. This can help me because I need to be able to speak up when necessary when I have an opinion on something.


D. Look at your “Risk Taking/Adventure” rating. Explain how the occupations do or do not match your risk taking style.
Likes taking risks and making quick decisions. As a nurse I have to think very fast and make quick decisions.

I would love to be a rock star! I am just kidding. I think that all of my interests are covered on these reports.


Meet with a Career Counselor at CACC

1. Make an appointment to review your assessment reports with a career counselor in Career and Academic Counseling (LC402 or contact by phone: 801-863-8425).


2. List any comments or suggestions made by the counselor regarding selection of a career or major and/or your assessment results.
After telling him that I thought I was going to become an RN he stated that It was one of my top occupations (the top) and then we went over the requirements. Then I spoke to him about the thought of becoming an EMT which was also on my lists os occupations. He gave me a place on the website to look at the UVU program and gave me a number to a woman that involved in that program so that I can get any questions that I have answered.
